bad sofie!

i've been a bad little blogger. i went home for a week and didn't write a single blog. terrible, i know. but this is what i figure: life is what's happening while you're busy writing your blog. i suppose i could make a feeble attempt to sum up my week, but i've never been good at that type of stuff. perhaps i will mention a few interesting tidbits in future posts, but for now, i offer a few things that i was thinking about while i was on my way back to berkeley...

1. easter egg hunts are the shit. my mom hides eggs in the living room and tim and i scramble around to find them. the race is given a certain element of urgency and heightened competition by the fact that my mom gives us money instead of candy for the eggs we find. today was an easy $54. totally worth getting completely taken out by tim and smashing my shin into my basket. these things can get pretty brutal.

2. do men with beards have sex? well...of course they do. but i just can't imagine having sexual relations with a bearded man. stubble is itchy enough as it is, but can you imagine a beard??? i suppose you could have sex w/o the beard rubbing all over your face and what not, but it doesn't really sound that intimate, and isn't that what sex is all about?

3. if warm water is best for washing your hands and killing germs, then why do they automatic faucets in public restrooms use cold water? clearly the well-being of the general public is not the number one priority.

4. i'm reading this fantastic book that sean got me for christmas called a natural history of the senses. i'm on smell right now and let me tell you, it's fascinating. apparently there is some guy who theorizes that men only want to have sex with women because "women's wombs smell of herring brine, and men are trying to get back to the primordial ocean." there is some interesting shit in this book.

5. street people scare me. a lot. seriously, what is the deal with street people??
