daffodils: overgrown weeds?

i wanted to help children with aids and i wanted five flowers for a dollar. unfortunately, those flowers were daffodils. and as it turns out, daffodils aren't that pretty and they don't smell to good either. which leads me to believe that they are simply weeds that have escaped proper categorization and are existing under the misleading guise of flowers. but at least i helped children with aids.
